Currently, CD Project Red is still working on parking Cyberpunk 2077, leaving Saber Interactive responsible for the updates to The Witcher 3. It is expected that the next generation update to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will introduce some new features, many of which are primarily visual enhancements for gamers. For example, players can expect to see the effects of radiation exposure and improved screen load times. We can also expect to see new compatibility with controllers like the new Xbox and DualSense controller.

We’re aware that the developers have been working with a community modder, Halk Hogan, known for his ‘HD Reworked’ mod for the game, which has gained a lot of popularity. It’s likely that we’ve seen this mod, or improved versions of itself, implemented in the update.

Release Date for The Witcher 3 PS5 and Xbox Series X

In the beginning, there was close hope that we would see The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on consoles for the next generation before the end of 2021. Without hesitation, the update of the game was delayed by an announcement of CD Project Red during October 2021. It is expected that the game updated during Q2 of 2022, without restrictions, still does not have a confirmed launch date.

Why is The Witcher 3 update being delayed?

As Project Red CD signaled in an earlier statement, the delay was due to “the recommendations of the teams monitoring the development” of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It seems likely that the developers did not want to repeat the past and therefore “wanted to fix it” while completing the cleanup of the games for the players, avoiding the launch issues already announced in Cyberpunk 2077.
