Do you want to set a «S » and Riot Games
The founders of Riot games Brandon “Ryze” Beck and Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill have announced their intention to return to the trenches for development in an attempt to put the “‘s” in the company, they said. Apparently they are working on something other than League of Legends. Rumors are circulating that Riot is developing an MMO, but so far nothing has been confirmed.
The press release tells us that when it started, in 2006, most of the time was devoted to development. According to League of Legends, which is growing up and becoming one of the most played titles in the world, they will undoubtedly leave that job to focus on leadership. Now they want to return to development, which is what they really love.
The management tasks currently underway will be delegated to three trusted individuals who have spent a lot of time working at Riot Games: CFO (CFO) Dylan Jadeja, CTO (Director of Technology) Scott Gelb and President Nicolo Laurent. From now on, Brendon and Marc will focus, in their words, on putting the ”s’ on the Riot Games.
Hey everybody,
We would like to share an exciting news with you all: the two of us are actively changing our roles to once again be much more focused on games.
When we founded Riot eleven years ago, we spent pretty much every waking hour of the day (and night!) Thinking about how to do League of legends as great an experience as possible. As League began to succeed, but the Riot Games grew from the humble beginnings where we could feed the entire team a handful of pizzas to now having over 2,500 Rioters spread across 20 offices around the world. This growth has many benefits: our opportunities were improved, our reach was expanded, and we were able to deliver League of legends and e-sports for more players than ever before. But this growth also meant that most of our time is allocated to “managing” the business instead of focusing on creating incredible experiences for players, which is what we really love to do.
Of course, we have not been on this journey alone, and have been fortunate to bring together a very skilled and driven management team of players through time who believe in our mission as much as we do. In our new roles, we go back to focusing on what is ultimately the most important thing we do: making amazing games. Dylan Jadeja (CFO), Scott Gelb (CTO) and Nicolo Laurent (President) will tank companies; all three are long-standing rebels who have been an integral part of shaping our company’s vision, strategy and culture over the past decade. We are excited to have an amazing team of such talented leaders and look forward to working with them to finally put “s” in the Riot Games.
We are incredibly excited to jump back into the trenches for this next chapter and look forward to sharing what we are up to along the way. Thank you all for continuing to make our dream job possible.
