With deep emphasis, we announce today that the development of Divinity: Fallen Heroes has been welcomed, while we lovingly celebrate the work done so far. We have been working with Logic Artists for more than a year since the announcement on March 27, 2019. Although we are excited about receiving the announcement and the energy from our fans, we have taken into account many things over the last few months, and today we are ready to talk about his future.
Originally planned for launch in November 2019, it has become clear to everyone involved that the game will require much more development time and resources than those now available to deliver it for the good term, in a fun and sustainable way.
In the future, we at Larian will continue to work on Baldur’s Gate 3 with news on the way, and Logic Artists will focus on their own Expeditions games. As an independent developer, we understand and appreciate the importance of a developer investing in their own IPs and in their own future.
We feel for players who are excited about Fallen Heroes, who tend to wait indefinitely, but we are confident that Fallen Heroes will take fans to a place that allows them to evolve on a smooth manner.
We appreciate the work that the whole world has put into Fallen Heroes, and although we regret its status from now on, we all agree that there is a great game inside that will soon reach the players who are waiting for it.
Logic Artists shared the following statement: “It’s always sad to put an emotional project on hold, but sometimes the realities of development and launch calendars simply stand out in ways that are beyond anyone’s control. It’s an incredible honor to work together with Larian on his Divinity IP, and the whole world at Logic Artists has remained impressed with the usability and consistency that Larian has been throughout the length of the project.
There is no doubt that we have learned a lot that will benefit our own projects in the future, and we will always be grateful for that experience. While our own team moves to focus fully on the third delivery of the Expeditions series and on a new IP address in itself, we wish Larian good luck with Baldur’s Gate 3. We can not wait to hit it! ”
