The EVO organization has announced that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will not be on the list of games that will participate in this year’s tournament, by decision of Nintendo.
As explained in a communication published in Twitter“We want to know in advance that Super Smash Bros. will not be returning. Since 2007, we have seen historic Super Smash Bros. moments created at EVO events. We understand that Nintendo has decided not to continue this legacy with us this year. We hope that in the future we can celebrate the Super Smash Bros. community with them.”
Nintendo did not want to make a statement in this regard, with which the reason for its decision is unknown. It’s possible there was something to do with Sony buying EVO tournament and eSports organization company RTS in March last year.
As for the games that will be part of this year’s competition, the organizers of EVO 2022 have assured that they will reveal the full list by March 8, via a special stream.
