Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Plus Collection will remain on the new PlayStation Plus as it has been until now.
The Japanese company announced yesterday the renovation of its online subscription service, merging with PlayStation Now and splitting it into three tiers. The first, Essential, will be the same as the current PlayStation Plus. The second, Extra, will add a library of four hundred downloadable games for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Finally, the third tier, Premium, will add all of the previous roughly three hundred backward compatible games for PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 only (that’s the latest streaming), cloud play and exclusive demos.
The launch of the new PlayStation Plus is scheduled for June, but there are still many questions to answer. The catalog is one of them, because it also knows if Sony will offer a better option for people who have already paid several months (or years) of Plus and want to upgrade to the Extra or Premium level. Additionally, there were still small details up in the air, like what would have happened with the PlayStation Plus Collection, if it had been kept at the Essential tier or if it would have passed the Extra.
For this we already have an answer. IGN reporter Jonathon Dornbush explained on Twitter that “For anyone asking, PlayStation has confirmed to IGN that the PlayStation Plus Collection will not be going away after this change. It will continue to be a benefit for all PlayStation 5 players. and PlayStation Plus”.
For those wondering, PlayStation has confirmed to IGN that the PlayStation Plus Collection will not be going away with this change. This will remain a benefit for all PS5 players with PS Plus.
