Sony has announced that it will launch the new firmware version for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 today. At the time of writing, it is still not available for download, but it is expected that it will be available soon, according to a post on the official PlayStation blog.
The update introduces some “fan-requested” features, such as the ability to create open and closed parties as much as on PlayStation 5 as well as PlayStation 4. When creating a voice chat or party of game we will have the possibility of open it – for this all our friends and the friends of the members of the group can enter without being invited – or close it – so that only we can enter to whom we invite. This feature will also be available from the mobile app.
Additionally, a feature has been added to identify who is talking in an online game, which will make it easier to report toxic behavior (currently only in UK beta) and the app’s Share Play and Remote Play options mobile have been improved, which can now be placed in dark mode.
Finally, it has been announced that VRR (variable refresh rate) will soon be available on PlayStation 5 for HDMI 2.1 compatible monitors. With this feature, the console refresh rate will be synchronized automatically to adapt to the monitor we are using.
