On the other hand, Warren Spector’s study lasted three years without working on System Shock 3

System Shock 3 creative advisor Warren Spector has confirmed that “there’s not much to say” about the already all but forgotten project right now.

In an interview with GamesBeatSpector said it would be up to Tencent “if he wanted to say anything about it”, and revealed that the OtherSide team would be working on it starting in 2019.

“We launched a communication last year. There’s not a lot of clarification to be made. Tencent is bringing the franchise right now, so it’s up to them and what they want to say.”

“We will work on it in 2018 and 2019. That’s it.”

Spector focused on commenting on other aspects of the industry and showed a negative outlook on developers and influencers posting NFT.

“This is the part where I’m going to get in trouble. People are going to bother me a lot with what I have to say, but I don’t think it matters to me. NFTs are ridiculous. I don’t understand why anyone one would like to get in that car.”

Last week, it was reported that Deus Ex creator Spector was working on “brand new intellectual property” at his OtherSide Entertainment studio.

System Shock 3 was originally announced in 2015, with Spector serving as creative advisor. The project got complicated in 2018 after the publisher, Starbreeze, ran into financial difficulties. Spector announced that he would continue to work on the project, but it didn’t seem like much until 2020, and OtherSide later announced that Chinese company Tencent would be the ones “to push the System Shock franchise forward”.
