Larian Studios announced that there is now a new Spanish study (LARIAN BARCELONA) formed by the old team of BlitWorks engineers, a video game developer known for its console and mobile game ports called Super Meat Boy, They Are Billions, FEZ, Spelunky, Bastion, Sonic CD and Don’t Starve, without forgetting the very Divinity : Original Sin 2, which helped bring the Nintendo Switch to life in 2019.
By virtue of this agreement, Larian has acquired the entire developer development team, while BlitWorks itself will continue to work independently as an editor.
“The story of BlitWorks with Larian emerges. After bringing most of the best indie games to consoles, they took us back to bringing Divinity: Original Sin 2 to the Nintendo Switch, and without knowing it, it was the beginning of a lasting relationship, ”said BlitWorks co-founder Tony Cable. “It never fails to say that adapting DOS2 to the Nintendo Switch was one of the most difficult projects we’ve ever done, but working with Larian was simple and straightforward, making us feel at home.”
“In the end, we were able to deliver a port of ‘maximum quality’, as it was originally required, and what we also demand in every project we work on. Then things flow naturally and we can only say, that we are excited to finally put all our attention solely on Larian’s projects going forward and help build Larian Barcelona! ”
Larian Barcelona is now the seventh studio under the Larian Fleet, uniting teams from Ghent, Dublin, Quebec, St. Petersburg and recently announced offices in Guildford and Kuala Lumpur.
“The BlitWorks team is one of the hidden gems of our industry. He has done nothing but be excellent, he has always offered good quality and shares a deep passion for the games. Purification in a natural way. So I’m doubly happy today. A place next to the beach that counts with sunshine and a marked increase in our capacity, ”added Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke.
