Less than a decade after the launch of GTA 5 in 2013, Rockstar finally responded to criticism from fans and the LGBTQ group + OutMakingGames by editing several in-game character models, dialogue lines, and action figures.
He urged the company to include these elements on several points in recent years, and OutMakingGames wrote in 2021: “Given the cultural influence that GTA 5 has around the world, Rockstar has a social responsibility with its players (many who can be LGBTQ +), personally and to the world in general so as not to promote violence against people of all backgrounds ”.
With the transition of GTA 5 to the new generation of consoles through the expanded and improved version, Rockstar finally seems to have fixed a bit of the problem.
GTA 5 has removed several transphobic jokes
According to GTA Net administrator Kirsty Cloud on Twitter, the changes include preventing several NPC models representing transcarticles from appearing outside a nightclub in the game called Cockatoos, even though those models are still available in director mode. .
Other changes include dialogue lines with unique protagonists designed to refer to these NPCs, some of which refer to the use of hormones that are likely to stop using now.
Another change refers to an action figure representing a superhero called Captain Spacetoy with “replaceable genitals”, which has been revised to show one of the other action figure models in the game.
The reaction to this news from the GTA community has been mixed and GTA community member Yangy Young has released a Hilo from Twitter by analyzing the impact of the news, it concluded: “circumstances affect, the outcome is not as important as people think it is, Rockstar can do better in the future”.
On the other hand, ResetEra user Javier23 commented: “I do not thank them for deleting anything that should never have been listed there in the first place, after all a decade of news updates”.
