EA will return and release The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories DLC in Russia

Electronic Arts has announced that it will return and eventually publish The Sims 4’s My Wedding Stories expansion in Russia.

A few days ago, the American company announced that this extension would not be released in Russia due to the country’s restrictive and repealed anti-LGBT laws. Maxis explained that for him, he had to compromise his original vision, and that he was “committed to the freedom to be who you are, to love who you love, and to explain the stories you want to explain”.

Russian users, without any restrictions, did not hesitate to express their dissatisfaction with this decision. Apart from starting an online petition that more than ten thousand people have signed up, pointed out that these laws do not apply to video games with a rating of +18, which is exactly what Los Sims 4 has in Russia.

After evaluation, Electronic Arts released a new communication in which he explains that “at that time, we felt that our team could not freely share the story of the couple formed by Cam and Dom in Russia, and we decided that the best way to keep our commitment was to not not publish this extension there”.

“Since then, we have listened to the feelings of our community, including support for our decision and support from members of the Russian community. It is so important for us to maintain our values, including the fight against homophobia, how to share stories with people who want and need them”.

“With that in mind, we’ve reviewed our options and given an account we can do more than we originally thought, so we’re releasing My Marriage Stories expansion for The Sims 4 in Russia, without modifications, with Dom and Cam”.

The new DLC will therefore also arrive in Russia without any kind of censorship. This change in planes, in any case, will bring a bit of a worldwide perspective, and finally My Wedding Stories will be released from February 23 to 17.

The communication ended by saying that “love is love, and the Sims community will continue to provide a safe space for those who want to see a world where this is certain for everyone. We appreciate the support of our team and our values even when it’s hard Thank you for being part of The Sims”.
